Compost topdressing is a thin layer of compost applied over your lawn to add organic matter for grass runners to take hold and support beneficial soil microbes. It’s one of the most natural ways to improve soil health.

Depending on the situation of the grass sometimes you will see improvements in weeks if water daily for 3-4 weeks, with Aeration, Humates Soil Conditioning and Fertilization occurs at the same time.  The biggest improvements usually happen over time as the soil improves and grass thickens. We recommend Spring and Fall applications.

Yes! It helps a lot. Compost needs consistent watering to move into the root zone. If you don’t have irrigation, we’ll talk through options and whether topdressing makes sense for you.

Single pass is a lighter application for lawns in decent shape. Double pass applies more compost and is best for thin lawns and bare spots that need stronger improvement.

We often recommend the 50/50 mix for fine-bladed zoysia or lawns with heavy compaction. It helps improve soil structure and can support leveling where needed.
